Routines and Things to Know

Welcome to the start of a brand new school year.  We are busy learning routines, schedules, and getting to know each other.  I would like to share some things about first grade and hopefully answer some of your questions.

Snack:  Your child may bring a snack to eat in the morning.  Please send a nutritious snack: no cookies, candy, chips, etc.  We also encourage everyone to avoid snacks with peanuts because of food allergies in our building.

Your child will have two folders this year.

Daily Folder:  This folder will go home daily with any homework, finished assignments and dated notes.  We may add things to it to keep you aware of happenings.  This folder should be checked daily and returned to school each day.  You may also send notes to me via the daily folder.

Tuesday Parent Folder:  It will be sent home each Tuesday and should be returned on Wednesday.  It will contain notes from the district, school, and community.

Lunch & Breakfast Money: If you send lunch/breakfast money with your child be sure to put it an envelope with your child’s full name and lunch number.  They can take it to the cooks just as soon as they get to school. Checks can be sent to:

 Food & Nutrition
800 Conifer Drive
Grand Rapids, MN 55744

Just Some Reminders: If your child is not following their usual routine at the end of the day, please send a note.  This will save a lot of confusion at the end of the day.

Tennis shoes must be worn for phy. ed. class.

**Please return the student info papers, field trip permission notes, emergency cards (bothsides), etc.

**Please remember to label your child’s jacket, backpack, lunchbox etc.

Contacting me: If you need to contact me, send me a note via the daily folder, email me, or you may call me before school or after school. I will check phone messages and emails during my prep time, and get back to you as soon as possible.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.  Thanks for your help.
